Well that’s the end of Chapter 1, finally. Took me long enough, right?
So I’ll fully admit that I’m still overbooking myself. I’ve been doing this for a long time – committing to things as if I didn’t have to go to work on weekdays or anything like that. I’ve got SO MUCH I want to do, but realistically, not a lot of time to do it in.
While I enjoy doing my comics, I still also need to do other things to keep me marginally sane – Gaming is a big part of that, socializing, etc.
Anyway, I’m sure you’re not interested in my whining about time, you just want to know when the next update is gonna happen, right?
So here it is: I’ve got to make a small book and some other minor art before I can really get back to doing zombots with a regular schedule. But fret not – in the mean time, I’m going to be adding art, sketches and other stuff between now and then. I’m also going to use this time to set a firm update schedule. I know I’ve been aiming at Thursdays, and while it’s convenient, I don’t think it really helps my readership.
So – my new goal is Monday/Tuesday updates. This gives me the rest of the week and weekend to finish a page and a chance to upload other incidental art.
So don’t give up, there’s more stuff coming. If all goes well, I’ll have a mini-comic that helps explain the origin of the Zombots and other happy cool stuff.

Sorry the comic isn’t finished, folks. I’ve been finishing up the final edit on the KatGirl’s book, Daemons in the Mist, before it’s sent to press. I figured I’d give you what I have instead of holding off. I’ll finish up as soon as I can, I promise.
In the mean time, here’s some art I posted on my DeviantArt account:
Zombot Zodiac. These will be full-color buttons available, and the original Art Cards will be for sale, most likely on Etsy.
Do me a favor! Go to my DA account and take the survey – tell me which you like better!
Or tell me in comments below. 🙂
I won’t always be bringing you news of the impending Robot Apocalypse – occasionally I’ll be adding occasional art to the archive.
In this sketch, Alex is exploring an old sanitarium. These sketches are generally done on card stock (as opposed to the digitally-created comic pages), and many will be available as original, unique art at future cons.
These sketches are examples of how much the world “lives” in my head, and I hope that I can share that world with you through this medium.
Have you seen the BEAR from Vecna Technologies?
I have a couple things to say:
1. Why are we teaching incredibly strong, agile robots how to open doors, move bombs and place humans on examination tables for other robots to experiment on them?
2. Didn’t the owners of Vecna Robotics know that Vecna is actually one of Advanced Dungeon &Dragons’ really REALLY bad bad-guys?? Honestly, he’s one of the worst:
So I ask you: How on earth are we supposed to trust robots in our house if THESE are the robots we’re actually developing??
It’s been a heck of a week here at Zombots. First I had to fend off feral, ravenous, formerly-domesticated pets… It gets rough around here when my cats are hungry. On Thursday, I was nearly run over by a wild robot careening through the halls of a hospital. Then this weekend, I got to go to the California Academy of Sciences, where I had to navigate vicious albino alligators, dangerous fish and rabid skeletal birds. Kat was along and took some photos.
Finally, sometime during the week, I learned how Robots are going to take our jobs.
It all starts here:

Welcome to the official launch of Zombots!
This project has been something like 2 years in the making – possibly longer. It’s really exciting to see it launch with the official first page!
The schedule is weekly on Tuesdays. I may occasionally update with a second comic later in the week (Thursday or Friday, depending) but that really depends on how much OTHER stuff I have to get done.
With a once a week update, I’m planning on having a larger blog that what resides on Hell Has Found Me. I hope you enjoy reading Zombots as much as I enjoy making it. Feel free to leave a comment below or send me an email!
As for interesting signs of our forthcoming robot overlords, Stanford researchers have developed a better artificial nose.
“Another of our long-term goals is to print these sensors on plastic, and if the spots were big enough to see, you could see the color changes,” Kool said. “You could hold a black light over the sensor and read the response. Then you could match up the color of the sensor with a key of some sort and say, ‘Ah, this sensor best compares with this color on the key – this milk is about to go sour.'”
Given a smart enough robot, it would be able to process smells on its own. One step closer to having your own maid robot in your home.
