Got started on a new background arc while I’m working on the main background comic. Hope you all enjoy!

Removable tablet computers that can double as digital data pads (like iPads) become the new standard – take them anywhere, everything your computer can do as well as all the functionality and portability of top-end pads. Synch with desktop storage devices for greater storage capability, and link to other tablet computers to increase screen area and computing power.

I’m still playing with the idea of doing some kind of color. Tell me what you think!

Molly Maids had huge databanks for cataloging family possessions, location information, quality and so forth. This helped the Molly Maid series to be the most successful domestic robot, but made them poor choices for general labor.

See, the core of it is that I remember a time when I was producing huge stacks of art – I was drawing every day, practicing, doodling, coming up with neat ideas. I was drawing when I sat at school and listened to the teachers, I was drawing when I came home and pretending to do homework, I was drawing when A-Team and Magnum PI was on (yes, I’m dating myself), and even the 8 o’clock movie. In fact, is was pretty rare for me to put down my sketchbook – or even look up from it (Star Trek: Next Generation was one such instance)

I miss it, and I miss watching my skills grow and my style evolve as time went on. So here I am, posting some sketch work – focused, indeed. This first taste is some of the development work that’s going into the next bit of story, and you get to watch it grow and develop with me.

My goal is to post a Sketch-o-Matic every day of the week (except maybe Saturdays and Sundays…) It’s blog stuff, so I won’t be posting it in the comic window. So here it is!

Well that’s the end of Chapter 1, finally. Took me long enough, right?
So I’ll fully admit that I’m still overbooking myself. I’ve been doing this for a long time – committing to things as if I didn’t have to go to work on weekdays or anything like that. I’ve got SO MUCH I want to do, but realistically, not a lot of time to do it in.

While I enjoy doing my comics, I still also need to do other things to keep me marginally sane – Gaming is a big part of that, socializing, etc.

Anyway, I’m sure you’re not interested in my whining about time, you just want to know when the next update is gonna happen, right?

So here it is: I’ve got to make a small book and some other minor art before I can really get back to doing zombots with a regular schedule. But fret not – in the mean time, I’m going to be adding art, sketches and other stuff between now and then. I’m also going to use this time to set a firm update schedule. I know I’ve been aiming at Thursdays, and while it’s convenient, I don’t think it really helps my readership.

So – my new goal is Monday/Tuesday updates. This gives me the rest of the week and weekend to finish a page and a chance to upload other incidental art.

So don’t give up, there’s more stuff coming. If all goes well, I’ll have a mini-comic that helps explain the origin of the Zombots and other happy cool stuff.

This weekend I’ll be heading up towards KintokiCon in Sacramento. I’ll only be visiting on Saturday, but I’ll be bringing sketch cards for anyone who’s interested and will draw Zombots and HHFM characters on demand

Jeremy Rathbone’s Release the Zombots! project is almost complete and he has scheduled his release party for July 9th! Anyone can show up (again in Sacramento); there is a Facebook open invitation up. I’m one of the featured artists and you’ll be able to buy a Zombots sketchbook from me and get a free original sketch along with it!
