Have you heard about the new William Tell robot? Put together by the Italian Institute of Technology, iCub is a small humanoid robot used as a platform to research a wide variety of topics.
This little guy learned to hit a target with his bow and arrow, self-correcting its aim until it hit the bull’s eye. They’re doing it to teach the robot fine motor skills and hand-eye coordination.
I can’t see anything going wrong here.

It was a bit of a struggle to get this page done. Honestly, I think I was a little intimidated by it. I’ve never done so complex a drawing directly into the computer before – usually I draw it out on paper first and scan it in.
Well, art woes aside, I also have some fun robot-news to share.
Have you seen the Time Travel Mart? They have their own website as well.
Apparently it’s a place to help young people with their creative writing skills and help teachers get better at teaching kids how to write. As cool as that is, I cannot get over the fact that they’ve seen the future and even come back with some of it!

Hey folks. Sorry about this. Between the Solano Stroll I was at last week and the Santa Clara Art and Wine festival I’ll be at this coming weekend, I was not able to get a comic finished in time for today’s update.
Misplacing my sketchbook with all the notes didn’t help either.
Zombot Cop’s warning has been heeded, however. I’ll be sure to not let it happen again (any time soon, that is)

I have a couple things to say:
1. Why are we teaching incredibly strong, agile robots how to open doors, move bombs and place humans on examination tables for other robots to experiment on them?
2. Didn’t the owners of Vecna Robotics know that Vecna is actually one of Advanced Dungeon &Dragons’ really REALLY bad bad-guys?? Honestly, he’s one of the worst:
